Galston is a semi-rural suburb of Sydney, north west of the Sydney CBD. It is part of the Hills District region in the local government area of The Hills Shire.
History
Galston was originally known as Upper Dural until the early settler Alex Hutchinson suggested in 1886 that the new school be named Galston after the town of Galston, East Ayrshire in Scotland. Galston had been an agricultural town since European settlement began, and it was home to a huge number of orchid growers.

Galston has limited public transport facilities; the main way to get around are walking, driving or cycling. The nearest train station is Hornsby Station or on the North West Metro, Castle Hill is the nearest stop.
Facilities
Galston has a small shopping village with cafes and other dining options. There is also a library, an aquatic centre and Fagan Park which is a large recreation area and host to Hornsby Shire’s annual community event, the Bushland Shire Festival.
