Eastwood is located 17 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD in the local government areas of the City of Ryde and the City of Parramatta.
History
The area of Eastwood was originally granted between 1790 and 1803 to marines of the NSW Corps. William Rutledge built ‘Eastwood House’ in 1840 and the subsequent suburb that emerged was named after the estate.
Transport
Eastwood is served well by public transport. Eastwood railway station is located on the main Northern Railway line and numerous bus services connect Eastwood to other Sydney suburbs.
Recreation
There are parks and forest areas in the Eastwood District including Blue Gum Forest and Darvall Park/Brush Farm Park as well as cultural events. Eastwood Shopping Centre is a mall located in the town centre featuring a variety of cafes.
