Annandale is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Annandale is located within 5 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district and is part of the local government area of the Inner West Council.

History

The land was first granted to Major George Johnston when he brought convicts from England in the First Fleet. He named Annandale after his birthplace, Annan, in Scotland, UK. The suburb was established as a fashionable residential area when desirable residences were built in the area in the late 1800s.

Transport

Buses are the primary mode of transport in Annandale. Travel to the City and CBD is easily facilitated by trains from Rozelle Bay station and stations at nearby Glebe. Buses run through the area providing a frequent service.

Annandale has a good mix of shopping facilities as well as cafes and restaurants, pubs and local events. The area offers an attractive outdoor lifestyle with neighbouring suburbs also having recreational facilities.
